As an Occupational Therapist, join the supportive team at Gateway Recovery Centre in Widnes– a service where you will help people with complex mental health needs to develop new skills and build a brighter future.
You will be working alongside the Occupational Therapy team in an 8 month secondment role. You will have experience in managing a designated caseload and will be responsible for completing assessments, planning therapeutic sessions, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to service users care plans.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of training courses to support you reach your career goals.This role involves:
- Facilitating a flexible programme of OT groups and individual interventions.
- Planning and implementing interventions and therapeutic activities
- Evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
- Supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants.
To be successful in this role:
- Current HPC registration and full BOAT membership with evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- Knowledge and use of a range of OT assessments and outcome measures.
- Experience of working within a similar setting.
- BSc (Hons) or equivalent occupational therapy qualification
- Minimum of 1 years post qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist

You will be working at the Gateway Recovery Centre, a state-of-the-art facility which provides care for men and women with complex mental health requirements.
The hospital is split into four distinct areas:
· Male Autism Service for the challenging and complex needs of adults with Autism and Asperger’s syndrome
· Assessment and rehabilitation for women with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties
· Specialist inpatient service for older men with complex mental health and physical health needs.
· Low secure care setting for men with a mental illness with or without personality disorder/mild LD
You will be working alongside the team with the aim to improve the mental health and wellbeing of service users and to help them develop and maintain healthy relationships with others. Gateway Recovery Centre will work to reduce risk behaviours associated with mental health conditions so that our patients can ultimately live successful and fulfilling lives within the community.
